stepchange
Project Summary
The stepchange project began in 2003 and aimed to develop
and deliver good practice for achieving travel behaviour change
for Scotland. It was designed to introduce new transport interventions
and to roll out such approaches to local authorities and other interested
parties across Scotland.
The programme introduced people to a range of measures known as
demand management that can play an important role in tackling the
growing problem of congestion. In its first two years, the stepchange
programme consisted of eight projects in various locations around
Scotland. This helped to develop, test and refine the method. The
range of resource material and personalised travel planning offered
to participating individuals was developed through the feedback
given by participants in the various projects.
