Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)

  SEA Workshop

SEA is a process to ensure that significant environmental effects arising from policies, plans and programmes are identified, assessed, mitigated, communicated to decision-makers and monitored. It also facilitates opportunities for public involvement in the development of such policies, plans and programmes. SEA is widely recognised as an important instrument to help to achieve sustainable development in public planning and policy making.

SISTech has carried out a number of projects involving, and related to, SEA.

SEA for Sustainable Flood Management - this project was carried out in partnership with MWH to look at the Scottish Government's consultation on the paper "What is sustainable flood management?"

SEA Workshops for Responsible Authority practitioners - two workshops aimed at practitioners to develop practical skills and knowledge about SEA.

SEA Scoping Report for the West Edinburgh Planning Framework Review - Scoping Report for the SEA for this area of key economic interest for Scotland.
