Experience and Expertise

Naeeda has developed a keen understanding in carbon metrics through involvement in various Carbon projects at SISTech including an LCA study of embodied cabon and natural stone, a review of in-house carbon and sustainability tools of a major UK utility company and a study of the different climate change adaptation and mitigation tools available for Local Authorities in Scotland. She also led SISTech's input in formulating carbon factors for materials and components of construction activity of water companies in the UK, in the UKWIR guidance on embodied carbon and whole life costing for water companies.

Naeeda also works with strategic level sustainability assessment, stakeholder engagement and management and waste. Recent projects have included knowledge management for research in the built environment in an academic project through Heriot-Watt University, development of sustainability indicators for the Scottish Tourism sector, contribution to the development of a SUDS scheme in the East End of Glasgow for the Metropolitan Glasgow Strategic Drainage Partnership, analysis of consultation responses on the Scottish Flooding Bill and establishing renewable energy opportunities in rural communities in Scotland.

Prior to joining SISTech Naeeda worked on a waste feasibility study for the University of Edinburgh where she was responsible for completing a cost-benefit analysis of different approaches to waste management. With an undergraduate degree in Geology, and an M.Sc. in environmental Sustainability, Naeeda's final dissertation analyzed the use of the ecological footprint as an indicator of sustainability using Scottish agriculture as a case study.
