Future infrastructure for Manchester City Council
Project Summary
Manchester City Council (MCC) commissioned a collaborative team from MWH, SISTech and ICS to deliver this ambitious project which considered future water, wastewater, power and digital communications infrastructure for the Oxford Road area in Manchester. The project aimed to evolve a best practice strategic portfolio management approach enabled by appropriately skilled people, relevant data, and flexible technology. The project delivered a Business Plan which established opportunities to be achieved by MCC and defined deliverables and affordable projects, outputs, capital works and relationships with utilities and developers.
SISTech’s role in this project was to produce evidence for measures to meet energy demand and reduce emissions from the ‘Corridor’, the area of South Manchester that includes the universities, a hospital, and a growing IT services industry. SISTech identified opportunities for using intelligent procurement to deliver low carbon solutions to meeting energy demand and improve energy efficiency based on a realistic assessment of the needs of the area over the next 15 years.
