Project Summary
MWH and SISTech supported Falkirk Council in responding to the requirements of the UK and Scottish Climate Change Bills and the Carbon Reduction Commitment. This included updating and enhancing the Council carbon footprint and greenhouse gas accounting system, identifying opportunities and financing to deliver energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy projects and making recommendations to improve the assessment of climate change risks and the development of an adaptation strategy. The project also included an assessment of the strcuture within the Council and recommendations on staff requirements and training needs that would be required in order for the Council to meet its climate change targets.
SISTech's role included an in depth review of the legislative and policy landscape over the next 15 years with respect to climate change, and what the Council would need to be prepared for in coming years. SISTech also compiled an outline of the expected climate change impacts in the area using UKCP09 projections and develoepd recommendations for the Council in terms of climate change adaptation.
