Creating the Coalmine of the 21st Century

Project Summary

This project involved the technical, environmental and economic feasibility study of the application of Underground Coal Gasification (UCG), coupled with Carbon Dioxide sequestration and Enhanced Coal Bed Methane (ECBM) extraction, in the Forth Basin.

SISTech's main input was in assessing the surface impact of potential demonstration sites considered in the study, using GIS and the Edina online database, and determining planning constraints through consultation with local authority planning officials.
