Cost-benefit analysis of Private Water Supplies Regulations
Project Summary
SISTech and MWH were commissioned by the Drinking Water Quality Regulator in the Scottish Government to understand the impact of the Private Water Supplies (Scotland) Regulations 2006. The main aim of the project was to review and improve the assessment made in previous SISTech studies conducted in 2002 and 2004 which looked at the costs of the Regulations and benefits in terms of the avoided cost of illness from drinking water from a private water supply (PWS).
The team looked at improved health data from the Health Protection Scotland and quantified the costs and benefits accrued due to the Regulations for 20 years by focussing on the Scottish Borders as a case study.
